Financial support to provide a nurse practitioner was provided by Casa Grande Community Hospital Foundation. The nurse practitioner will provide basic physical examinations to those that are experiencing health issues to determine if the patient has signs of any disease. The medical examination will include a medical history and physical examination. The physical examination will include at a minimum: examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia. The examination may include examination of the blood, urine, vision, and hearing tests as well as blood pressure to evaluate the overall health.
The ability to provide nursing examinations would provide the ultimate service necessary for these homeless individuals. To be able to identify their health issues and refer to other medical services would help their road to self-reliance, where they may be able to improve their health and eventually, possibly find a job and a home.
